In-situ machining of cylinder liner landing surfaces
In-Situ machining keeps dredger on schedule
Suffering from frequent combustion gas leakage of No.4 and No.5 cylinder, ship owner requested Goltens to survey and clean up before the cutter-suction dredger was set to sail to carry out its dredging contracts. Goltens’ survey revealed that the landing surfaces of cylinder liners had been damaged and required in-situ machining, and flatness checking.
Goltens proposal to complete the work at anchorage was accepted, and as the dredging schedule was tight, Goltens immediately mobilized its grinding machine and technicians to the vessel to complete the In-Situ work as well as grinding of fitting surface on cylinder covers.
